Maths Methods Prerequisite for University.

1. Maybe you don't need to study Maths Methods at all...

Maybe you don't need to study Maths Methods at all, or even any maths at all, including general or specialist.

The first thing you need to know is which university you actually want to get into and what course you're interested in.

Now this generally means that you should probably spend some time investigating the stuff that you're interested in. Spend a little bit of time going to a variety of unis or some job experience or something like that and get a bit of an idea.

2. Don't "Keep Your Options Open"

If you keep your options open, quote unquote, this usually means you end up doing things that you're not particularly interested in. Sometimes this works out okay, but often it doesn't. Like often it means that you end up doing courses in year 11 and 12 that you don't really need to do, which end up stressing you out a whole bunch because you're not really all that naturally good at them.

Worst case scenario, when you get to university, you can change courses anyway. Maybe you'll find something you're more interested in and transfer over to that. And in some rare cases, people realize, oh, wow, I'm glad that I studied maths methods because it got me into blah. But, you know, that's not necessarily the majority of time.

So the earlier you can figure out what you're interested in, the better.

3. Pick what you like or what you are good at

Now, if you're more of a humanities-type person, doing sciences and maths doesn't really make sense because you're going to be more interested in humanities-type subjects. And if down the road, as I mentioned before, if you do end up becoming interested in something else, well, you can do that. But chances are you're not going to be interested in it and if you pick subjects you don't like you'll just end up hating the subjects that you're doing. So have a look at what university courses require different things.

Work out what you actually want to do. And let's make the last couple of years of schooling not completely miserable.

4. Find out which University Courses require Maths Methods, General etc...

If you look below, you can download a PDF of what general of a series of often looked at university courses and what their prerequisites are in terms of maths methods. So check that out and hopefully that will help you out.

The curriculum is basically the same with a few minor differences. However, the exam questions are quite different from state to state, so while you can learn the content from anyone, you want to practise questions specifically for your own state (you can access ALL exam questions for FREE here).

To be a little more specific: Maths Methods tutors in Melbourne specialise in VCE Maths Methods, Maths Methods tutors in Brisbane specialise in QCAA Maths Methods, Maths Methods tutors in Adelaide or Darwin specialise in SACE Maths Methods (NT uses South Australian Curriculum), Maths Methods tutors in Hobart specialise in TASC Maths Methods and Maths Methods tutors in Canberra specialise in BSSS Maths Methods.
